There's just 2 weeks and 4 days to go until the TCS London Marathon 💪 Today we're hearing from Gina and Sian Moore - a mother and daughter team, who are both taking on the challenge for The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital 🏃‍♀️💜 Gina said: "In 2017, Myself, Siân & Dennis were involved in life-changing car accident, that completely turned all of our lives upside down. "Following 2 months at Stoke Mandeville, our husband/dad (Dennis) spent 5 months under the care of RJAH Gobowen Hospital for a spinal injury. Dennis' injury has resulted in him being paralyzed from the chest down, subsequently losing a lot of independence as the simplest of daily tasks have become complex and demanding. His recovery has neither been as straightforward as we had hoped, with many hurdles thrown our way, and life at times has been far from easy. All of the above has been exasperated by the frustration of my Brachial Plexus injury; also as an outcome of the accident. I have lost complete use of my left arm and live in a sling every day. "However, amidst the difficulties, one overwhelming constant has been the solicitous care provided by RJAH Gobowen. The staff and doctors have been second to none, and have helped enable Dennis to continue living a fulfilling and content life. No task is ever too big, and we are always greeted with the greatest of smiles, by all staff. In order to try and re-pay the hospital for their hard work, we will be running the TCS London Marathon, 2025. "We are taking this opportunity to say a BIG THANK YOU to all the staff and care of RJAH. We would not be where we are today as a family without them." If you would like to make a donation in support of Gina and Sian, please visit 👉 https://www.justgiving.com/page/sian-moore-1720725978662?utm_medium=FR&utm_source=CL

We're so excited to be working alongside Adrenaline Sporting Events 🏃‍♀️

Let's here from Alan Jackson ahead of the upcoming TCS London Marathon 🏃 Alan said: "I'm running the London Marathon as a testament to resilience and gratitude. Running has always been a part of my life, but in 2016, a devastating ankle injury brought it to an abrupt halt. I was told it was unfixable - until The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital gave me a second chance. "Thanks to their groundbreaking surgery and years of recovery, I was able to return to the sport I love, completing the New York and Chicago Marathons with my sons. Now, I’m fulfilling a lifelong dream by running London, despite battling a chronic heart condition. I’m doing this to give back to the hospital that changed my life and to show that no matter the challenge, we can keep pushing forward." There's one week and one month to go until Team RJAH take on the TCS London Marathon 🏃‍♀️💪 Over the next few weeks, we'll be highlighting some of our amazing runners! 💜 Today we're hearing from Abbie Mooney. She said: "The reason I wanted to run the London marathon was because it was something me and my dad wanted to do together. "He completed it before I was born, so after my brother Ash had an accident, we decided to raise money and take on the challenge. Sadly, he passed away very suddenly while Ash was still at RJAH. I chose to continue that legacy and support an amazing charity." A big thank you to John and Annette Evans for their wonderful donation of £1,500! 👏 The money was raised through their annual Christmas lights display - locally known as Fireman John's Christmas Lights. Every year, they put on a magical display to raise money for a local cause ✨ Following a knee replacement earlier in 2024, they chose to raise funds for The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital. The funds will be shared between the Physiotherapy Department, in recognition of their ongoing support for John, and Alice Ward, the dedicated paediatric ward, as Christmas is a special time for children, and their needs are many 💜
